Matera and it's setting
14 Km away. This is the church of a former rupestrian convent, which contains some wonderful paintings by the artist known as Painter of Flowers of Matera.
The rupestrian churches are an important manifestation of the human presence in these incredible natural caves. Specifically, they were occupied by Benedictine, Lombard and Byzantine monks.
To visit this Crypt, you must first go to the Azienda Dragone to purchase tickets. From there you’ll be accompanied with your car to the Crypt. It’s a guided visit with audio in your language. We recommend booking in advance, as it’s a very popular visit and places are limited.
